DMS Policy on Electronic Devices

Cell phones may be brought to school but are to be turned off and stored in lockers once inside the school. Cell phones are not to be used during school hours. Cell phones are not to be on the student's person during school hours. Students found not complying with the guidelines will have their phone confiscated and it will be sent to the office. Electronic Devices including cell phones, radios, Walkman, I-pods, MP3 players, laser lights, computerized toys, etc. may be used during lunch, but at no other time of the day.  At other times, such items brought to school are to be turned off and secured in lockers and are not to be on a student's person. Some teachers permit E-readers (kindles, nooks, etc.) for reading during class, but that is at the teachers’ discretion. The school will not take responsibility for the loss or damage of such items.

Consequences for having cell phones/electronics during the school day:

First Offense: student may pick up their phone at the end of the day in the office.

Second Offense: phone will be sent to the office and parents will be contacted to pick up phone from school.

Third Offense: After school detention and phone picked up by parent.
